Stalin was one of the unique men in history that were able to gain control over a country or group of people just from his outstanding speaking skills and his ability to really pull in an audience and have everyone be fully attentive. He was able to persuade the country as a whole sometimes to believe in him and his daring ideas. This was achieved by Stalin because he was able to use the right rhetoric devices and persuasive language throughout his speeches. By putting all of these qualities together and then being able to back it up on the war front, you would have to say that Stalin is a very influential and successful leader. One of his most well known speeches was the Red Army speech on November 1st 1941. This is somewhere close to the middle of the Second World War which everyone knows the USSR was very heavily involved in. This gives you the idea that the speech is probably a very motivational one that would be targeted to the people of Russia and more importantly the men serving on the front lines.
Right at the beginning of the speech Lenin directly lists all of the different levels of the everyday russian work pyramid. He targets the poor farmers and the rich workers. He does this because he wants to have everyone on his side whether it be the poor or the rich. In result of having this he will have more chance of bringing the country together as one and that will make everything a lot easier for him.
Stalin refers to the german Nazis as something far worse than what he is, he is saying that the russian civilians are falling under the yoke of them as a metaphor. Stalin is good at this as he is agreeing with the russians when it comes to the thoughts about the germans but when you look at the bigger picture both are just as bad as eachother. Stalin is saying this such as "the war we are currently taking part in was forced upon us by the germans, he is again trying to play the germans as the bad guys in this situation.
Lenin is also refering to the fact that his land has lost a number of regions and how catastrophic it is but a the same time he is talking about places like Ulkraine and Slovakia ect that originally were taken over by Lenin in the first place. He then goes on to praise the country on all of the rough times that it has gone through and how they have pulled it all back, mainly praising himself for having the composure to be able to round everyone together and sort it all out. Throughout this whole passage of speech he is empowering himself and everyone around him and this is probably one of the biggest factors in the russian success against the germans. The speech is quite biased towards the russians against the german army and also and probably even more importantly against Adolf Hitler.
Stalin is very intimidating and mean hearted towards his enemies but this speech shows that he really did care about the wellbeing of hisw country and the people in his country.
